HEX ezSWITCH
A Smart Handlebar Button for Your HEX ezCAN
What does the ezSWITCH do?
The HEX ezSWITCH is a compact, handlebar-mounted button with a built-in LED indicator. It’s a versatile smart switch that connects directly to the HEX ezBUS, allowing you to control ezCAN-connected accessories.
The HEX ezSWITCH can be connected to any HEX ezCAN, Denali CANsmart, or Lone Rider MotoCAN using Generation II hardware.
While most supported motorcycle models already enjoy the convenience of using their factory controls for functions like toggling auxiliary lights and adjusting their brightness, the ezSWITCH gives you even more flexibility.
You now have the option of a smart, configurable, dedicated button you can use to control auxiliary lights or fog lights, or enable and disable your accessory horn with ease, day or night. It’s a great option for those who want a more hands-on or custom setup, adding both style and functionality to your ride.
The HEX ezSWITCH also unlocks functionality that was previously inaccessible on certain motorcycles. Husqvarna Norden 901 models, Yamaha Ténéré 700 models made from 2019 to 2024, most of the KTM range, and others that use limited CAN-bus systems have historically lacked rider-accessible control for auxiliary lighting. With the ezSWITCH, riders of these bikes can now enable and disable their auxiliary lights, and adjust light intensity levels on the move, opening up new levels of control and confidence.
The ezSWITCH can easily be installed on the bike’s handlebars, or even on a rear-view mirror shaft, using a basic cable tie. No tools needed!
When you have installed the HEX ezSWITCH hardware, configure the ezSWITCH and the accessory the ezSWITCH will be used to control, using the ezCAN Configuration Software as shown in the video below.
Alternatively, follow the step-by-step instructions in Configuring the ezSWITCH to control an accessory, below.

- Click the Hamburger menu button in the ezCAN Configuration Software (below).
- Click ezBUS devices.
3. Click Scan (below).
4. The ezCAN will scan for connected ezBUS-compatible devices connected to its white (ezBUS) output circuit.
5. An ezSWITCH configuration panel will appear in the ezCAN main window (below).
6. Use the ezSWITCH selection drop-down (left, above) to select the relevant ezSWITCH.
7. Use the Linked Circuit drop-down (right, above) to assign control of the relevant accessory to the chosen ezSWITCH.
Using the ezSWITCH
Adjusting auxiliary front lights or front fog lights
If an ezSWITCH is used to control auxiliary front lights, you can choose to control an Auxiliary Lights One circuit, an Auxiliary Lights Two circuit, or Auxiliary Lights One and Two circuits simultaneously.
If an ezSWITCH is used to control front fog lights, all front fog lights are controlled simultaneously.
Switching the lights on and off
Press and release the ezSWITCH button.
Adjusting the light brightness
Press and hold the ezSWITCH button for 3 seconds.

Adjusting the light brightness
Press and hold the ezSWITCH button for 3 seconds.
- When in this mode, briefly press and release the ezSWITCH button to increase brightness. With each press, the MotoLights will increase in brightness from 0% to 1%, 2%, 3%, 5%, 7%, 10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%, then back to 0%. You can repeat the adjustment as many times as you need.
- Exit brightness-adjustment mode by not pressing the button for more than 5 seconds.
Activating Beast Mode
Triple-click the ezSWITCH button.
In Beast Mode, you can easily adjust the MotoLights for any riding condition. Refer to the Lone Rider MotoLights operating instructions for more details.
Adjusting an auxiliary horn
If an auxiliary horn is installed, you can assign a Hex ezSWITCH to enable and disable the auxiliary horn power circuit as needed. This is particularly useful if you do not want the accessory horn to cause a nuisance in built-up areas.
Note that all horns fitted to the vehicle can only be sounded by pressing the vehicle’s Horn button.
Enabling and disabling accessory horns
Press and release the ezSWITCH button.
What is the OUTPUT plug on the ezSWITCH controller?
The 2-pin JWPF plug labelled OUTPUT on the ezSWITCH Controller is a low-output expansion power circuit. This means that, depending on how many ezSWITCH controllers are connected to your HEX ezCAN, you can now have between five and eight power outputs:
- Red circuit
- Blue circuit
- Yellow circuit
- White circuit
- One, two, three or four ezSWITCH OUTPUT expansion circuits
Note the following important points:
- While any usual ezCAN function can be assigned to an ezSWITCH OUTPUT circuit, it is most commonly used as a brake light output.
- The ezSWITCH OUTPUT circuit draws power from the ezCAN’s White circuit. When calculating the cut-off amperage limit for the White circuit, the amperage draw of accessories connected to the White circuit and OUTPUT circuit must be added together.
- The fuse limit of the ezSWITCH OUTPUT circuit is fixed at 2 Amps, and cannot be changed.
- The recommended maximum load for the ezSWITCH OUTPUT circuit is 1.5 Amps.
- As on all other ezCAN power circuits, if the ezSWITCH OUTPUT circuit trips, it can be reset by switching the vehicle’s ignition OFF, then ON.
- The ezSWITCH OUTPUT circuit has a 2-wire connection, and does not support 3-wire accessories if those accessories are set to their 3-wire mode.
How do I configure the ezSWITCH Controller OUTPUT circuit?
It’s quick and easy!
When you have installed the HEX ezSWITCH and ezSWITCH controller, configure the ezSWITCH Controller’s OUTPUT circuit using the ezCAN Configuration Software, as shown in the video below.
Alternatively, follow the step-by-step instructions in the Configuring the ezSWITCH OUTPUT circuit section below the video window.
Configuring the ezSWITCH OUTPUT circuit
Tip: The ezCAN’s white (ezBUS) output circuit allows connection of up to four individual ezSWITCHES to the same ezCAN.
When you have connected a chosen accessory to the ezSWITCH Controller’s OUTPUT circuit:
- Click the > button to the right of the White Circuit’s ezBUS icon (below).
- The ezSWITCH Functions expansion window will be shown.
- Depending on how many ezSWITCH Controllers are connected to the ezCAN’s White (ezBUS) circuit, you may see up to four ezSWITCH listings. The example image below shows a scenario in which two ezSWITCHes are connected to the ezCAN (note the different device serial numbers).
- If you are unsure which ezSWITCH listing corresponds to a particular ezSWITCH, match the device serial number listed in ezSWITCH Functions with the serial number printed on each ezSWITCH Controller.
2. Click the correct ezSWITCH listing icon (upper left portion, below).
- The function assignment icons will be shown as normal (lower portion, below).
3. Click the correct function assignment icon to assign the ezSWITCH’s OUTPUT circuit to the relevant accessory.
- The ezSWITCH listing icon will be updated to reflect your chosen selection (upper left portion, below).
- A configuration panel for the assigned function will appear in the main window of the ezCAN Configuration Software interface, together with the configuration panels for all accessories connected to the Red, Blue, Yellow and White circuits. Use the configuration panel to adjust the connected accessory as normal.
